Rehearsals outside of class

  • Running with drums
  • Learning lines
  • Feed back from Rachel
  • Running through act 1 and 2 without scrip's and with
  • Going through staging
  • Making gang ties out of colleron which is a material that is easy to paint and cut out shapes so we thought that it would be a good idea to use it for the school ties. We chose purple and black for the theme of the gang

Wednesday 6th Febuary 2013

As Rachel was absent this lesson we structured our own rehearsal time and breaks. Focusing on running acts 1 and 2 without scrip's.

I focused mainly on my accent. I asked a couple of people who are good with Russian accents to say my lines with me recording them. This way I practise speaking the accent with out going of the rail doing Scottish or German.
I also thought about how my character would take to the situation of her circus failing. Would she be angry, scared, frustrated or upset but then looking over the lines again using each of these emotions and found that its a mixture of all of them. My last feedback for the staging of the scene was that I was throwing away my last couple of lines, I think this was because I was unsure of the accent. I added more movements for the lines so I had things to do while I was speaking. Not only did it look better but there was an improvement in speech and projection.

I found this Video clip on YouTube and I found that the main tips helped me practise my accent.

Breaking down each line and word and saying them slowly in 'broken' English was a really helpful tip and I found the more I practised this the easier it became. I then started to add characterisation along with the lines then I could see the character of Tinkerbelle forming.

To begin with she was a big confident character, shouting and being outrageous bringing so much energy to the stage, which is a nice contrast to Missy and Zack. I need to maintain the energy that she has when she enters.
